Objectives:

  1. Students will increase their understanding of how to provide care to Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus T1DM patients.
  2. The student will be able to explain the pathophysiology of the T1DM disease process.
  3. The student will be able to explain the rationale for the medical management of T1DM.
  4. Students will be able to accurately identify symptomology consistent with the T1DM disease process, including short and long-term consequences.
  5. Students will be able to prioritize patient needs accurately.
  6. Students will be able to accurately explain the rationale for ordering diagnostic labs and tests.
  7. Students will accurately interpret lab findings.
  8. Students will be able to identify the rationale for the use of each medication.
  9. Students will accurately calculate medication administration.
  10. The students will address social factors that can impact patient care.
  11. Students will demonstrate interprofessional collaboration.
