I like how foundational the information is. So many times, as I went through this course, I thought, “Nursing school should have been like THIS. Tell us what we really NEED to know to be safe and effective.”
There was so much extraneous information in nursing school that wasn’t really vital to the foundation of nursing care and that we simply, as new nurses, didn’t have the experience to take in or use. I always through nursing programs should be like this one in that it focuses on getting you ready to safely practice nursing, and gives you the basis to grow those skills. Then you take those skills and that knowledge, and use your nursing experience and practice to become the very best nurse that you can be in your area of care.

So, I really appreciated the ability to go at my own pace and having the online features available to use when I was available. I have a really busy life with three kids, and I loved the transportability to take my program wherever I needed to be to work on things. Some weeks I had more time and some weeks I didn’t, but going at my own pace was the ideal setting for me. I think the program appropriately refreshed concepts that I had obviously learned before, but having a second go through of it was kind of nice and going through life experience and reviewing the educational content again coupled with that life experience just brought new solidified understanding of concepts that I interact with every day. I do love to learn in general, and even though I had to, for the program, go through the content, I kind of enjoyed the opportunity to refresh everything. I guess what I mean to say is I valued the content review. I didn’t necessarily have an opinion, one way or the other on the ATI content initially, but I will say that I appreciated the different style of content learning that that provided. It just added further depth of not just reading it, but seeing it in action.
In summary, this process has been a journey. I’m proud of the work I put in. I’m thankful for the help that was provided me in this program to achieve the purpose of getting back into the nursing field. It required a lot of dedication, sacrifice, and intention. I do believe that this course and the course structure was absolutely appropriate to guide and prepare the nurse wanting to reentry the field. I would recommend this course to anyone I interact with that wants to get back into the nursing field.
